Raises the merest chuckle but it's a feelgood kinda movie rather than laugh a minute. The juvenile female lead is Emilia Jones whose first role was Merry Gejelh in the new Doctor Who episode "The Rings of Akhaten".

These people have no respect for each other and nothing constrains their primitive savagery: not money, not morality, not their religiousness, not a sense of decency, not shame. An incredible marathon ... for us. 6 movies in 7 nights from Saturday to Friday, all extended editions, all Bluray. There are some chinks in the beauteous special effects (mostly shit compositing) and the movies all have relentless medieval battle sequences, but the presentation of the simple tale of friends and support is rousing and inspiring.

This one is piggy in the middle. FOTR is great and ROTK is the epic conclusion. This has the pickup of the old tale and the inevitable hanging climax. But it's all good.
