A competent biopic about a remarkable character in an ugly, challenging social situation. Performances are good. The plot is clear. Importantly it demonstrates what is wrong with the rotten white supremacist ideal.

I feel that this movie bears comparison to La Vie En Rose (a biopic about Edith Piaf, the French singer/legend who died young). This movie is much more sympathetic to its subject but does not shy away from controversy. Billie is shown in jail and using drugs. La Vie En Rose adroitly clipped Nazi collaboration from its story.

So this wins.
