This seems like a half-hearted attempt to write a socially aware story about the horrors of the pre-Chartist UK. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chartism) That it fails to shoehorn any of that actual history in is either dimly educated writing or some act of political suppression by editors. Either way it makes the story like a Disney version of Oliver Twist. The monster fish is realised on a modern CGI fuelled scale but remains unbelievable through simpleton errors. The eye appears mammalian rather than piscine. (Like eyelashes on a dinosaur!!) ABM Rating 2.5/3
