This is fantasy rather than a historical story. First the depiction of the Picts is purely imaginary since *nothing* is known about them (for sure). See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picts
Next the stuff about the crows and the messages in their calls is verging on Animism (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animism) and is in my view unsuitable for a DW story. It's not science fiction. The gay politics with the Roman Legionnaires is merely tone moderated with the rest of this series. It doesn't really affect the story that much. It's really fill-in material. The effects are nice. The locations are pretty. The characters are dull. ABM Rating 3/3
